The Ann Arbor District Library located in downtown Ann Arbor is one of four branches in Ann Arbor. It is at 343 S. Fifth St in downtown. This branch carries books, DVDs, Blu-rays, compact discs, magazines, audio books, and more!
Good Time Charley’s is located at 1140 S University in downtown Ann Arbor, just by campus. Open Mon-Sat 11a-2p makes it a great spot for students to unwind.
The Brown Jug in downtown Ann Arbor, MI is the perfect hang out for U of M students. It has a great location, near downtown, and right by campus!

The Arena is located downtown Ann Arbor on the corner of 4th and Washington. They provide a full lunch & dinner menu, 24 beers on tap, 4 large projection screens plus 22 other flat screens ( including one in each booth and in bathroom) for all major sporting events. They also have 2 Golden Tee games, pool table, dart board, internet jukebox, and free Wi-fi.
Pinball Pete’s in downtown Ann Arbor is perfect for those University students getting some game-time relief from all their hard work and studying. Pinball Pete’s is gamer heaven! They have classic arcade games like Donkey Kong, mixed in with newer machines. There’s so much to do there you’ll wonder where the time went.
In need of a ‘birthday recovery kit’? How about ‘Hander-pants?’ Wondering what ‘hander-pants even are? If so, head into Middle Earth in downtown Ann Arbor, located by the U of M campus on S. University. They sell unique and funky gift items- books, jewelry, toys and accessories. They have fun houseware and office items, such as jumbo fridge magents, and many gag items.
Occasionally Gift Shop located in downtown Ann Arbor provides the perfect gift basket for any U of M football fan, you can also get individual items to support your favorite team! Main items include t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, footwear, & Ann Arbor themed college games. Occasionally Gift Shop also allows you to have the entire family participate in the sporty fun with childrens clothing & stuffed animals.
In Ann Arbor, summer is full of events! Top of the Park, Art Fair, Summer Festival, etc., but what about fall?
In October there’s the Halloween Farmer’s Market in Kerrytown. Bring the kids that Saturday for trick-or-treating with the local vendors. They also have pumpkin carving! Sunday the Artisan’s Market & Kerrytown Shops have a kid costume parade with haystacks and stories, AND a treasure hunt! Also in Kerrytown, the Spice Merchants will have pumpkin dip & ginger cookies out Oct. 23 from 12-2. Hollanders School of Paper & Arts has many unique classes held the rest of the month- Letterpress Printing, journaling, Collage Techniques, & Paper Marbling.
And in November Ann Arbor holds the Jewish Book Fest at the Jewish Community Center. Have “Lunch and Learn” and shop the books for sale. It’s film counterpart is held mid-May. Nov. 13th Michigan A Cappella Fest (MACFest) will be at Rackham Auditorium doing a showcase of all 15 UM a’cappella groups.
